Houses in Manzanita

Visit Dates: April 29 – May 1, 2022

Back in winter we got reservations for this large house on the coast. It’s big enough for all eight in our family. We’ve stayed there a couple of times before and had a blast. Unfortunately, Andrew and one of his kids got COVID a week before we were set to go, so it ended up with only Carla and I along with Jeff and Sarah. Not the big family time we had planned, but it was real nice getting to spend some extended grownup time with our older son and his wife.

Going to the Oregon coast usually means walking miles on the beach; been there, done that, got the T-shirt. While Carla and the kids when for their beach time I decided to go up the hill and explore a part of the town and area I’d never paid any attention to. There are some real nice houses up there.

This simple cottage caught my eye

A little farther up the hill I found this newer, larger house.

Wood shake siding is a thing on the coast – or maybe just what caught my eye. Here’s another.

I like those floats hanging off the porch so I zoomed in.

Up toward US 101 I found a viewpoint of the coast range. Sure enough: another shake sided house

On Saturday evening we went out to dinner; on the way back I grabbed a picture of this interesting installation.

There you have it; short and sweet and no ocean, bird, or train pictures for a change.
