Colorado Trains Day 5: Cumbres and Toltec Narrow Gauge RR
On September 9, 2025, our journey commenced in Antonito, Colorado, aboard the Cumbres and Toltec 488 steam locomotive. We traveled through the scenic Rio Grande del Norte National Monument and Carson National Forest, enjoying lunch in the ghost town of Osier before concluding in Chama, New Mexico for our next adventure.

We left Lake Quinault and made a stop at the Hoh Rain Forest. “Rain forest” means rain – and there was plenty of it. We also stopped at Lake Crescent on our way to catch the Victoria ferry in Port Angeles.
