Burger Project – Canyon Grill

Saturday April 14, 2012

We had all 5 of the Burger Project guys with us last week; I was the picker and wanted to try Canyon Grill

The Oregonian placed Canyon Grill 3rd in their December 2012 Best Burger Competition Once again our panel of experts disagreed with the Oregonian; it was definitely average. Maybe our taste buds are different from the Oregonian panel.

Nice signage
Funky place; looks promising

John ponders the menu
It’s a very small place with seating for about 10 in the main building. They also have a covered patio; since it was a nice day we roosted in a corner there.

The milkshakes were the  standout; hard ice cream made with the old fashioned Hamilton Beach mixer (I screwed up and didn’t get a picture). This is what we’ve been looking for in milkshakes.

Chocolate milk shake with real whipped cream

Root beer shake. Nice tall topping of whpped cream
Howard enjoying the conversation

Biggest frustration of the day: it took over 30 minutes from the time we ordered until our hamburgers came. Hard to explain the delay. It’s a small place but there didn’t seem to be many people ahead of us.

Jay says “That one’s mine”

The burgers looked pretty good; though there is a lot of lettuce there bulking things up.

Norm checking out the burger

Looks nice and big but a lot of lettuce makes up the bulk

Friendly staff guy
