Canada by Rail – My fellow foamers

Travel Date: September 17, 2022

“Foamer” is what railroad employees call rail fans. It’s because they claim we foam at the mouth when a train rolls by. While I may drool a little bit when I see a train I’ve never actually foamed at the mouth. That’s my story and I’m sticking to it.

Anyway, as I was getting ready to write my next blog post about our passenger train journey from Jasper to Toronto I saw this picture I neglected to include in my previous post about our day in Jasper waiting for our late train.

I got a kick out of it because it shows my people! There was a whole lineup of old men men of a certain age doing what we do – taking pictures of trains. This photo just tickles me to no end. I knew I’d be keeping company for the next four days with my kind of people.

My people! At least 3 other old men “foamers” grabbing pictures of the Toronto-bound Canadian rolling into the Jasper station
