We are staying at a lovely AirBnB in Berwyn, Illinois while we visit our son, daughter-in-law, and grandsons (1 just a week old). We are spending most of the time over at their house playing and helping.
But… our apartment is just a block away from the BNSF Transcontinental line so I tried to grab a few pictures in the morning and the evening. The train traffic is overwhelmingly Metra commuter traffic in the morning. I caught this photo as we walked to breakfast.

The locals and express trains roll through about once every 5 minutes during the morning and evening commutes. Once the commutes are done the BNSF freights take over the scene. This evening after we got back, I walked over trackside to try to catch a freight. I was in luck.

The container yard is just a couple of miles east of Berwyn so this guy was roaring along getting up to speed.
Metra trains are heaviest during the commute but they run most all day. I caught this inbound as I walked back to the apartment.

Where are pictures of the kids? Their parents don’t want to get their names and images plastered everywhere until they have an informed choice in the matter, though I may get to publish one every once in a while. I get it. It’s a good thing trains are nearby to scratch my photography itch.
