We wanted to exercise our prerogatives as grandparents and get away for a day for some grown up time with Brian and Marie. So we headed down to Carmel-by-the-Sea to walk around downtown and enjoy the views. It’s about an hour’s drive south of Santa Cruz, just south of Monterey. California Trip Days 5-9: Santa Cruz Views
In this post I’m sharing some of the beautiful views of Santa Cruz, California we had from our deck at the Beach Street Inn and Suites motel and a couple of walks on the wharf.
Sony A6600 with 90mm Macro Lens
Back in 2016 when I bought my first Sony E-mount camera (full frame Sony A7R2) I purchased a Sony 90mm Macro G lens and a Sony 24-240 all purpose lens. The 90mm macro lens is great for close up shots, I’ve taken a few – like these pictures of our garden – but my photography never trended that direction. I considered selling it; but it’s such a nice lens I hate to give it up. So, I tried putting this full frame llens on my APS-C Sony A6600 to see how it would fare. I wandered around the house and outside to give it a go. I am very pleased with the results.
Road Trip To Glacier Days 3-5: Flathead Lake
After a one-night stay in Couer d’Alene, Idaho we went to Flathead Lake, Montana for two nights – giving us a full day to explore the lake.
Grilled Burgers with Fake Shack Sauce
We returned from a trip to Flat Head Lake and Glacier National Park in Montana last week but I’m having a difficult time getting through the photos to post. So, let’s talk about typical summer grilled burgers but this time with an impressive Fake Shack Sauce from Serious Eats. It’s based on the sauce used on Shake Shack burgers. I’ve only eaten at Shake Shack once over two years ago so I can’t judge the accuracy. But I have tried out various “special sauces” on my grilled burgers and this is my favorite so far – the only one that bears making again.
